What I Carried Forward

Some projects teach skills.
This one changed how I think about communication.

When I first joined Social Creatures, I thought communication was about delivering the right message.

Over time, I realized communication begins much earlier.

It starts with listening.

Before writing newsletters, planning campaigns, or researching funding opportunities, I had to understand why people would care in the first place.

The strongest campaigns weren't simply the most visible.

They were the ones that made participation feel possible.

Today, I think of communication less as persuasion and more as creating the conditions for people to belong.
